Work areas are sealed off before sanding starts and cleaned at the end of each day. Most of these jobs happen in occupied houses, so the rest of your home should not turn into a construction site while we are in one room.

Yes, the whole township. Middletown covers a lot of ground and goes by a lot of names, so to be specific: Lincroft, Navesink, Locust, Leonardo, Belford, Port Monmouth, New Monmouth, River Plaza, Oak Hill, Chapel Hill, Monmouth Hills and Middletown Village. Our showroom is in Holmdel, minutes west.

Can you work on floors in one of Middletown's historic districts? Historic

Yes. Middletown has five designated historic districts, Chapel Hill, Locust, Monmouth Hills, Navesink and Middletown Village, and the floors in them are often original. An old floor can only be sanded so many times, so we measure what is left before quoting rather than assuming a full sand is safe.

Our house is from the sixties and there is carpet over the floors. Is it worth pulling it up? Under Carpet

Usually it is worth a look before you replace anything. Hardwood from that era was often carpeted within a decade and has barely been walked on since. We lift a corner in a closet or by a vent to see what is under there and what shape it is in, so the decision is based on the actual floor.

We're near the water. Does that change what we should put down? Moisture

It can. Homes near the Navesink and Shrewsbury, and anywhere with a damp basement or a concrete slab, see bigger humidity swings, and solid hardwood moves with them. We test subfloor moisture before installing and will say when engineered is the better choice for a room. That is a measurement, not a preference.

Do you do the stairs, trim and painting as well, or only the floors? Whole Job

All of it. Floors, stair treads and railings, baseboards and molding, and interior painting. It matters most where they meet: the stain on a new stair tread has to match the floor it lands on, and coordinating that between two separate companies is where these jobs usually go wrong.

What does an estimate involve? Estimates

Someone comes to the house and looks at the actual floor. Free, in-home, and it is where the real answers come from, including how many times a floor has already been sanded and whether the subfloor is sound. You get a written quote after that rather than a number over the phone.
